Emphasis 2: General: This emphasis is designed for students intending a major in medical laboratory sciences or nursing to meet application PRQs in the first two years. Course offerings may also prepare students for entry into many other health related fields. Students should explore their academic and career goals regularly with their advisor and make course selections based upon those goals. Students not selected for admission to medical laboratory sciences, can complete the B.S.in Health Sciences – General emphasis as shown for years 3 and 4 in this plan.

Pick 5:(in consultation with advisor): AHLS 2113, REHB 327, REHB 372, REHB 493, CHEM 310/311, COMD 220, NUTR 2013, PHHE 295, PSYC 316, HSCI 217, HSCI 497,or other courses as approved by advisor.

Notes/Comments: This plan is an example of what a four year plan could look like for a typical student. Placement exam scores in math as well as the completion of coursework may change the plan. It should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor each semester to discuss course scheduling. All requirements are subject to change by NIU.
