Notes/Comments: This plan is an example of what a four year plan could look like for a typical student admitted directly to nursing as a freshman. Placement exam scores in math as well as the completion of coursework may change the plan. It should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor each semester to discuss course scheduling. All requirements are subject to change by NIU. Students earning a combination of 2 D, F, or U grades in any nursing courses or who fall between a 2.5 - 2.75 NIU cumulative GPA will be on academic warning within the program. If the NIU cumulative GPA falls below a 2.5, the student will be subject to dismissal from the Nursing major. Students may only enroll in each NURS course a maximum of two times, as this could lead to a dismissal as well.
