NIU is proud to offer a Re-Enrollment Scholarship for returning students. This scholarship provides up to $500 per semester, for up to three semesters.

Please fill out the Re-Enrollment Scholarship Form. If you are eligible, you will be notified by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. The scholarship will be applied to your account as pending financial aid and will be automatically disbursed to your student account charges about two weeks after the start of classes each semester.
No. You must have earned 90 credits before you are eligible.
No. You are only required to register for a minimum of three credits in any given semester to be eligible.
The Re-Enrollment Scholarship is available for any fall, spring or summer semester.
Yes, but first, you must apply for reinstatement and then be admitted to NIU.
Yes. All returning undergraduate students are eligible, regardless of type of program.
No. This program is only for undergraduate students at this time.
It depends. The scholarship can only be applied to eligible charges such as tuition, fees, or books purchased through Huskie Books and Gear. If you have other financial aid that is also restricted to those charges, and your charges are less than your aid, you may not receive the full amount of the scholarship. The Re-Enrollment Scholarship is not refundable.
No, you are not required to apply for other financial aid, but we strongly encourage you to submit the FAFSA or Alternative Application for each year you will be enrolled to maximize your eligibility for other financial aid such as grants and federal student loans.
The Re-Enrollment Scholarship is available for a maximum of three consecutive semesters. To remain eligible, you will need to enroll in at least three credit hours each semester for consecutive semesters. Examples of consecutive enrollment include:
